Thing-a-Week #1: "Seven By Seven"
My first thing-a-week is completed--two days early, no less!
In the spirit of the periodic nature of the thing-a-week, I dusted off an idea that's been rattling around in my head for a while now. Ages ago, I got this little melody stuck in my head at work. When I went to transcribe it into GarageBand, I realized it was in 7/4 time, which is an interesting challenge to work with. As I got to fiddling, I decided to set myself a challenge to write a musical piece that was seven "verses" long, with seven measures in each verse and seven beats in each measure.
The result is a little piece I call Seven by Seven.
Enjoy.
